Chief Minister Siddaramaiah opined that intolerance has become a threat to society

BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah opined that intolerance has become a threat to society and should be eliminated by adopting messages of Basavanna and Kanakadasa.

Participating in ‘Kanaka Jayanti’ celebrations organised here on Saturday by Kannada and Culture department, the Chief Minister said “A few forces are responsible for spreading hatred among different communities and religion. In the past, too, clashes among different communities and religion was witnessed. They are continuing now.”

People who frequently recall the contribution of Basavanna are not practicing his preachings. They are more interested to give importance to superstitious practices. “If we want to respect Basavanna and Kanakadasa, we should adopt their preachings in our day to day life,” the Chief Minister said.

The Chief Minister recalled the contribution of Kanakadasa in the field of “Dasa Sahitya”. Youth should learn the contributions of Basavanna, Buddha and Kanakadasa, Mr. Siddaramaiah said.
