French film 'Wolf Totem' directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud will open the 20th edition of IFFK.

The 3-D movie is based on the semi-autobiographical 2004 novel by Chinese author Lu Jiamin. The movie follows a young student’s journey from Beijing to 'civilise' the nomads of Inner Mongolia.
The opening ceremony will also be marked by the concert of Ustad Zakir Hussain. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will light the lamp.
Eminent filmmaker Dariush Mehrju will be felicitated and awarded with the IFFK’s lifetime achievement award for his body of work and contribution to Iran’s cinematic renaissance.
The screening of the opening film will be preceded by unveiling the Signature Film of IFFK.
Kerala Kalamandalam, Kerala Sahitya Akademi, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi, Kerala Folklore Akademi and Bharat Bhavan will conduct evening performances from December 5 to 10. Dance forms like Kathakali, Theyyam, Padayani, Mohiniyattam and Kerala Nadanam will be performed at various venues, including Kanakakunnu palace, from 6 – 7 pm daily. There will also be jugalbandi sessions at the Bharat Bhavan auditorium.
