Political parties told to cooperate for MLC polls

Collector M. Jagan Mohan on Friday appealed to all political parties to cooperate in conduct of free and fair MLC elections in the district.

The district Collector said the political parties need to uphold the code of conduct which will be in force until January 1.

At a meeting with the representatives of all political parties, Mr. Jagan Mohan informed that the electorate for the local bodies’ constituency-MLC seat constituted of 882 voters, which includes 52 ZPTC members, 635 MPTC members, 188 Councillors, six MLAs and an MP.

Polling booths would be set up at the rate of one each at the five Revenue Divisional headquarters in the district, he added.

District Revenue Officer Sanjiv Reddy explained the electoral process and the MCC.

He said the smooth conduct of election would be ensured by the MCC teams which would be monitoring the proceedings at each mandal.
