DRDO missile test facility: compensation for 112 families

The Revenue authorities have recommended compensation to the 112 families from Gullalamoda village in Nagayalanka mandal where Missile Test Launch Facility project is coming up. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has sought 381.61 acres including a portion of the Krishna Wildlife Sanctuary in Nagayalanka mandal of Krishna district.

According to the 2014 site inspection report by the wildlife authorities’, the technical facility of the project will come up in the 321 acres of revenue land while test facility is proposed in 15 acres and proposed road connecting technical facility and test facility will be laid in 45 acres of forest land.

“A decision has been taken to promise compensation to the 112 families to be rehabilitated for the project during a meet, recently chaired by Krishna Collector Babu.A as per the existing guidelines. A report recommending compensation to the affected families has been forwarded to the State government,” Krishna District In-Charge Revenue Divisional Officer P. Saibabu told The Hindu .

Mr. Saibabu has confirmed that the 112 families have not been issued of any patta to enjoy the land till date and hence it belongs to the government. However, the families respective were being allowed to enjoy the land now.
