Girls drowned a day before their bodies were fished out: Report
Ahmedabad: Doctors who conducted postmortem of the two teenage girl students - Divya, 15, and Trishula, 17 - stated in their report on Friday that the victims had died 24 hours before their bodies were fished out of Sabarmati River.
The probe into the alleged suicide pact of Divya and Trishula is getting murkier day by day. Even as the cops are not fully convinced with the suicide theory, boyfriend of one of the girls, Bhagyesh Parmar, 24, who was being quizzed by Rakhial police, had to be admitted to a local hospital with signs of depression.
Rakhial police station inspector B N Chavda said though Parmar has been discharged by the hospital, doctors have advised him treatment from a psychiatrist. "We have come to know that Bhagyesh had met both the girls for the second time on Wednesday at the riverfront at about 4.30 pm on Wednesday. We are probing what transpired between them," added Chavda. The bodies of Divya and Trishula, students of Matru Chaya High School in Gomtipur, were fished out of Sabarmati River on Thursday morning. Their hands were tied together with a dupatta.
Police said an abduction complaint of these two girls had been lodged at Rakhial police station, a day before their bodies were found from the river.
"During the probe it came to light that Divya and Trishula had met Bhagyesh, a married youth near Baliyakaka crossroads, and went for a ride in his car," said Chavda.
Police said they have got cctv footages showing the two girls sitting in Bhagyesh's car and also of Bhagyesh dropping the two girls back at the same place about 45 minutes later.
"It has also come to light that Divya was talking to Bhagyesh from the cellphone of Trishula, but Trishula's family claim that she did not have a cell phone. This is a mystery for us," said a police source.

From the call detail records it is clear that Bhagyesh was in touch with Divya through Trishula's phone till about 1 pm on Wednesday. "Bhagyesh had even gone to the riverfront to meet the girls in an auto as Divya had called him at about 4 pm. We have recorded statements of auto drivers who had dropped Bhagyesh to the riverfront and also from there to Amraiwadi," said Chavda.
Bhagyesh claimed earlier that he had not met the girls after he had dropped them at Baliyakaka crossroads at about 11 am on Wednesday.
"We've asked for their cell tower locations from Wednesday afternoon onwards to know whether they jumped in the river in the night or on Thursday morning," added Chavda.
