Research scholar Swamirao Kulkarni, who has made great contribution to the Dasa Sahitya in the State, has been selected by the government to receive the prestigious Kanakasri Award, given in the honour of Haridasa and Kanakadasa, this year.
Dr. Kulkarni, a retired Principal of the Nutan Vidyalaya Degree College and the founder-president of the Haridasa Sahitya Vichara Vahini, would be presented a purse of Rs. 5 lakh, a plaque, a commendation certificate and a shawl. He would be felicitated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at the Kanaka Jayanti celebrations scheduled to be held at the Banquet Hall in the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on Saturday.
Dr. Kulkarni has been conducting research and publishing works on Dasa Sahitya for over three decades, and has so far published 15 books on the topic. HE did his PhD on the life of Badesab, who converted to Hinduism to become the famous Ramadasa, and later guided two students to obtain PhD in Dasa Sahitya.
