Rich tributes paid to White Revolution's father

The Patna Dairy Project (PDP), also known as Sudha dairy, in association with Indian Dairy Association, Bihar, on Wednesday celebrated National Milk Day in the memory of late Verghese Kurien, father of White Revolution and founder of cooperative dairy movement in the country, on his 94th birthday.

PATNA: The Patna Dairy Project (PDP), also known as Sudha dairy, in association with Indian Dairy Association, Bihar, on Wednesday celebrated National Milk Day in the memory of late Verghese Kurien, father of White Revolution and founder of cooperative dairy movement in the country, on his 94th birthday. Thousands of rural milk producers, members of 2,800 cooperative societies under Vishal Pataliputra Milk Union Ltd (VPMU), and consumers assembled on the dairy premises to mark the occasion.
Recalling his association with Kurien, Ganesh Buddhatriye, a septuagenarian farmer from Akbarpur in Patna district, and Awadhesh Singh from Vaishali said, "Kurien was an iconic figure who transformed Bihar, ushering in milk revolution in the state. He made ordinary 'doodhwala (milkman)' like us a key player in the state's economic development at the grassroots level."
