Diverse recitals on a platform

Nadam is presenting ‘Kala Nadam’, a national festival of classical dance, on November 28 and 29, 5.30 pm onwards, at ADA Rangamandira, JC Road. Audiences will get a glimpse of diverse dance recitals such as bharatha­natyam, odissi, kathak and kuchipudi by noted artistes. This is being done in aid of Shri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre

Nadam is a non-profit organisation which formally launched by Nandini Mehta and K Muralimohan in 1999. Since its inception, it has witnessed a rise in its popularity in leaps and bounds. The academy imparts intensive training in kathak, bharathanatyam and classical music to aspiring students. This year, the festival is in its 16th year and will be hosting artistes from different parts of the country and dance forms.

Neelamana sisters, Prathibha Prahlad, Shama Bhatte, Rama Venugopal, Vishal Krishna, Pallavi Krishna, Anuradha Venkatraman, Deepa Sashindran, Rekha Satish, Sujatha Mohapatra along with Murali, Nandini and the ‘Nadam Ensemble’ would be performing this time.

Trained intensively by kathak exponents Nandini K Mehta and K Murali Mohan, the ‘Nadam Ensemble’ comprises of senior Kathak dancers who are empanelled with ICCR and are graded solo artists with Doordarshan. The ensemble has performed in various prestigious festivals in India and abroad. Smitha Srinivasan, Samanvitha Sharma, Arpita Banerjee, Poorna Acharya and Mitha Vinay will be presenting some of the best pieces choreographed exclusively for ‘Kala Nadam 2015’.
