Academy Award-winning actor Matt Damon seems to be making the most of his trip to Ireland, not least by enjoying last night's U2 gig in Dublin's 3Arena.

Bono took a pause from belting out the tunes to announce that both Matt Damon and Castleknock native Colin Farrell were amongst the fans listening to the band.

Damon spent some of his time hanging out with Kodaline frontman Steve Garrigan and his girlfriend, TV presenter Diana Bunici.

Earlier, independent.ie revealed that the Hollywood star had flown into Ireland for a holiday with his family.

The 45-year-old was pictured arriving at the Merrion Hotel in Dublin 2 this afternoon.

It is understood that the young family flew in from Berlin yesterday for some much-needed chill-out time.

The Bourne star also made a point of stopping into some of Dublin's best watering holes on his visit.

Baggot Street's Doheny & Nesbitt's was happy to report that the actor had a "fantastic time".

The Bourne star was recently filming the untitled fifth installment of the successful blockbuster series in Kreuzberg, Germany.

Little is known about the new Bourne 5 film in which Damon will return to the title role.

Once Damon flew into Dublin Airport, the family immediately made their way to the Merrion, the hotel of choice among many celebrities.
