Ryanair has released an unknown number of seats for sale from just €2 each-way for Black Friday.

The €2 fares, which are available for two hours from 9-11am this morning, can be purchased on the airline's website (ryanair.com).

Passengers can also find them by using the Fare Finder feature.

To find the sale routes, enter your departure airport, a destination of "anywhere", a budget of less than €5, and a travel period of "anytime".

As we publish, flights from Dublin to Paris Bouvais, Glasgow, Copenhagen, Cologne, Brussels and Liverpool were available for January and December departures.

Asked about the sale's volume, duration and travel period, Robin Kiely, the airline's Head of Communications, said:

"There are a limited number of seats on sale now for a limited time only."

UPDATE: Ryanair has told us the sale ended at 11am.

The flash sale is the latest salvo in the "winter airfare wars" predicted by CEO Michael O'Leary this summer, with around two million seats having been released for sale since October 30 at fares ranging from €5 to €15.

Meanwhile, Aer Lingus is offering 50pc off European routes for Black Friday - in a sale that also sees €50 offered off round-trips to North America.
