The Panthers will need Stewart with quick feet in the playoffs. Entering Thursday's game, he had forced 43 missed tackles, most in the NFL. Carolina doesn't want to lose that.

New contract (and horse) for Josh Norman: Perhaps general manager Dave Gettleman could break his policy against negotiating during the season and go ahead and get this done during the long Thanksgiving weekend. Make American Pharoah the bonus. Norman, who owns several horses, already has proved he deserves to be paid among the top five cornerbacks in the league, so go ahead and rearrange whatever you have to under the salary cap to get it done. That way there won't be questions about Norman's future when the Panthers reach the playoffs. Giddy-up.
