Vic Tafur’s NFL picks for Week 12

By Updated

I picked the Eagles on Thursday. Carry on …

Cardinals (-10) at 49ers: In boxing, battered fighters sometimes get up, put up their hands and survive for a while as the punch-tired opponent catches his breath. 49ERS

Raiders (-1) at Titans: I got burned taking Oakland on the road against a bad team last week. Tennessee has a good defensive front and I think Marcus Mariota has a big day. TITANS

Saints at Texans (-3): Not buying Houston’s resurgence, but for some reason, I don’t think new defensive coordinator Dennis Allen is going to fix New Orleans. TEXANS

Vikings at Falcons (-1.5): This game is symbolic of a ridiculous NFL season. Minnesota is supposed to be good, and will lose to an underachieving Atlanta team. FALCONS

Rams at Bengals (-8.5): Jeff Fisher has survived longer than he should in the NFL because, after two disappointing losses, his teams like to shock people. RAMS

Bucs at Colts (-3): I have no idea. There, I said it. Jameis Winston threw for 5 TDs on Sunday and Matt Hasselbeck is 3-0. My kid says Bucs. BUCS

Giants (-3) at Washington: Eli Manning surely will outperform Kirk Cousins, and bettors who lay the inviting 3 surely will prosper. Surely. WASHINGTON

Bills at Chiefs (-6.5): We got off the Kansas City bandwagon last week because apparently we got tired of easy covers. Can we get back on, please? CHIEFS

Dolphins at Jets (-3.5): Haven’t seen any stories recently about how cool and tough new Miami head coach Dan Campbell is. JETS

Chargers at Jaguars (-4): Never ever bet on Jacksonville as a favorite. Unless it’s playing a San Diego team that mailed it in a month ago. JAGUARS

Steelers at Seahawks (-3.5): Seattle is not what it once was, and there’s a good chance that if you take the Seahawks here, they will blow a late lead. Or maybe just the cover. STEELERS

Patriots (-3) at Broncos: Brock Osweiler is going to have a major come-back-to-earth game. Though Denver’s defense will keep it close. PATRIOTS

Ravens at Browns (-3): Johnny Manziel finally plays well and then gets demoted to third string. RAVENS

Record: We (it is still we, right?) were 1-2 in Thursday’s games and are 80-77-6 against the spread this season.
