As head of Country Mouth, Fred LeBlanc has toured his outlaw country sensibilities around the country, and now Mr. LeBlanc is bringing his music with a ‘tude to the District Dec. 3 by popping by the Hill Country in Northwest.
Mr. LeBlanc’s most recent album, “Go!,” shows off his aggressive stylings as applied to the typically gentlemanly genre of country on its titular track. “Do You Wanna Do It Right Now?” is an uptempo downer (trust us!) while the excellent “My Little Secret” shows off a ska influence, showing Mr. LeBlanc’s catholicism in trying out multiple styles. “Where’s the Rain” gets back to country — if somewhat languorously — but then the party kicks back up with “Too Much Work” and “Mardi Gras by Moonlight.” “Song of the Summer” makes you smile anticipating the return of the warm temperatures (er, rather, the warm months). The album closes with the contemplative “Watch the Water.”
