JAMMU, Nov 26: The Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu today organized Inter-Collegiate Gatka Championship at its Campus, here.
The Championship was organized for the first time by the University of Jammu.
The Championship was organised in the events of Soti Fari and Single Soti in team and individual.
In Team event (Soti Fari), the gold medal was claimed by Sant Rocha Singh Degree College. The players included Rupinder Singh, Hardeep Singh and Jaspreet Singh.
The silver medal was bagged by MBS College of Engineering & Technology. The players were Jujhar Singh, Prabhjot Singh and Pawandeep Singh.
The bronze medal went to Govt MAM College, Jammu and the players included Ranmeet Singh, Dalbir Singh and Manpreet Singh.
Team event ( Single Soti): Gold Medal-MBS College of Engineering & Technology; Players were Simranjeet Singh, Harjot Singh, and Avideep Singh.
Silver medal-Sant Rocha Singh Degree College; Players were Gurpreet Singh, Yashpreet Singh and Harpreet Singh.
Bronze medal-Govt. MAM College, Jammu. Players were Ramandeep Singh, Harshdeep Singh and Karanpreet Singh.
Individual event (Soti Fari), Gold medal-Rupinder Singh (SRS College), Silver medal- Karanpreet Singh (MAM College); Bronze medal-Harjot Singh (MBS College)
Individual event (Single Soti), Gold medal-Hardeep Singh (SRS College), Silver medal-Ranmeet Singh (MAM College) and Bronze medal-Jujhar Singh (MBS College).
The overall championship went to SRS Degree College with 26 points.
Prof. Dhian S. Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who awarded the trophies and medals to the players of winning teams in the presence of S Manmeet Singh, Balbir Singh Chib, Dr Brij Baloria, Gagan Kumar, S Janak Singh, S Tejinder Singh and S Amritpal Singh.
The Panel of referees were S. Vinaydeep Singh, Ravider Singh and Amarjeet Singh, officials from Gatka Federation of India.
The Championship was conducted under the supervision of P.D. Singh, In-charge Gatka Competition.
