ASSOCHAM boss says gst is a gamechanger

Calling Goods and Services Tax (GST) as the “brahamastra” to kick start the Indian economy, industry chamber Assocham’s new president Sunil Kanoria on Thursday urged the opposition parties to set aside their political difference to pass the GST Bill in the current session of the Parliament.

“To do business within the states is a nightmare. We may build highways or digital network but we need to create a tax structure whereby goods can flow within states smoothly. GST will unify the country as one,” said Mr Kanoria in his first press conference after taking over as Assocham president.

Mr Kanoria said that the chamber is writing to MPs over GST. He asked all political parties to go beyond their political differences and look at India’s development.
