A multi-million pound townhouse where the rules of football were first written down has collapsed.
A £3.8m six-bedroom property, formerly owned by the founder of the Football Association Ebenezer Morley, collapsed during building works on Thursday.
The London Fire Brigade were called to the house in Barnes in south west London and conducted a search for anyone trapped inside the townhouse as well as evacuating those from the neighbouring houses.
The current homeowners were not inside at the time and no one is thought to have sustained any injuries
The front of the property displayed a blue plaque in honour of Morely, who penned the original rules of football at the address in 1862.
He created the Football Association and issued the first Laws of the Game, giving the modern game a proper structure.
