This year, Yahoo Beauty celebrated our first birthday, and we have continued our mission to talk about beauty beyond makeup. We use this space to celebrate who you are, promote beauty from the inside, outside, and everywhere else, and to inspire you to live beautifully.

As a team, we’re thankful for your support, your comments, and, well, just caring enough to read! Individually, we have a lot to be thankful for, too — in beauty and in life. Yahoo Beauty staffers share our gratitude, below.

Bobbi Brown, Editor in Chief

Life: I’m thankful for my health and family. And getting to work in an industry that I love.

Beauty: I am thankful for moisturizers that make me look luminous and concealer that hides how tired I am.

Tara Tersigni, Contributing Editor

Life: I’m thankful for my wonderfully supportive family — that I’m related to and at work. I would never be able to not laugh and have fun (even on the hardest days) with either group!

Beauty: I’m thankful for learning to trust my beauty instincts and not be afraid to employ the less is more philosophy.

Sara Bliss, Senior Writer

Life: I’m thankful for health, love, and family.

Beauty: I’m thankful for Chanel mascara, which is simply magic.

Joanna Douglas, Senior Editor

Life: I am thankful to be surrounded by kind, generous, inspiring, smart, and hilarious people in every aspect of my life. It makes me feel incredibly lucky and well-loved every single day, and motivates me to always be a better person.

Beauty: As someone who is extremely sensitive both inside and out (and recently battled with new allergies), I’ve learned to finally appreciate my fair, reactionary skin. Over the years it’s tested my patience, but I’ve realized it actually guides me to make wiser choices about caring for myself, from sun protection to diet.

Alexandra Perron, Editor

Life: This year (and every year!) I am so thankful for my family and friends. It’s not always easy to be far away from home, but I feel so lucky to have an amazing group of people surrounding me in New York City.

Beauty: I’m thankful for all of the beauty gurus in my life. Dr. Shah, my derm, for answering all of my weird skin questions and for taking care of that one really annoying zit I had once before a date (don’t underestimate the power of a cortisone injection). Greg Cassese at Cutler Soho for giving me the lob of my dreams. Tracey Cunningham, for giving me the highlights of my dreams. And Bobbi Brown, for being a kickass EIC and also for making me less afraid of eyeliner.

Noel Duan, Writer

Life: I am thankful to have loving friends and family all around this beautiful Earth of ours. When I moved back to New York City from England last year, I felt a little lonely because all my friends and relatives are spread thousands of miles apart! It’s nothing like living on campus in school, when everyone is walking distance away. Now I know what a blessing it is to have people who love you wherever you go. I visited old friends in Cuba and South Korea this year, for example!

Beauty: I am thankful for my colorist, Lucille Javier at Sally Hershberger, who uses Pravana dye. I’ve had the most fun hair year of my life, dyeing my hair gray and purple and blue and pink, and it’s all due to Javier, whom I’m lucky to consider a friend and color guru. One time this summer, she even gave me mermaid hair, allowing me to finally achieve a childhood dream of becoming a mermaid.

Devon Kelley, Writer

Life: I’m thankful for my family, my health, and everything my family has taught me about my health. When Lunchables and Kool-Aid were in their prime, broccoli and hummus were on my plate. As much as I resisted it at the time, it’s my norm and my preference now. The way I see it, all you have is your health and the people you love. No amount of money can buy these two virtues, but they have everything to do with the quality of life, so I’m very grateful to have an abundance of both.

Beauty: As a new member of the Yahoo Beauty team, I’m most thankful just to be here, surrounded by such amazing people! Aside from that, olive oil is my tried and true love for every beauty need.

Amelia Blackwell, Intern

Life: I’m thankful for having friends who understand that a fro-yo run at 11pm is sometimes necessary. I say this in jest, but moving to New York without knowing anyone was a challenge at first. I feel unbelievably blessed to have found such amazing people to surround myself with. Looking back on this year full of amazing opportunities, I’ve realized how thankful I am to share special moments with incredible friends.

Beauty: Hands can take a serious hit from changes in temperature to constant washing. My sensitive skin is thankful for discovering Bobbi Brown Extra Hand Cream. After using it, my dry skin feels supple and pampered. We stress the importance of moisturizing the face, but often overlook the part of our body that gets the most abuse: Our hands.
