Lowry inspires UCD to glory
Laois player Eoin Lowry was in in superb form for UCD
EOIN LOWRY bagged 1-6 as UCD pulled away at Parnell Park to land the Ryan Cup.
UCD took an early lead, with Laois man Lowry in superb form.
However, DCU pushed 0-6 to 0-4 ahead, with Conor McGraynor, Conor McHugh and Stephen Attride on target.
UCD took the lead in the 19th minute, when Lowry’s shot ricocheted in off defender Dessie Ward. They kicked on and Padraic Harnan’s goal gave them a 2-9 to 0-8 interval lead.
UCD extended their advantage on the restart with points from Niall Kelly and Paul Mannion.
DCU rallied and a brace of points from substitute Ryan Lyons left two goals between the sides with 13 minutes left.
However, they failed to score again, and UCD cemented victory with a late blitz.
