Belagavi to host 15th national paralympic championship from November 28

BELAGAVI: The 15th National Paralympic Championship-2015 will be held in Belagavi from November 28 to 29. Swimmers’ Club of Belgaum and Aquarius Club Belgaum will be hosting the event at international level Suvarna JNMC swimming pool in association with Paralympic Swimming Association of Karnataka.
Around 450 swimmers from 17 different states have confirmed their participation.Swimmers will participate in three age groups, which will be split again into 12 different sub-categories. Further segregation will happen in boys-girls, men and women.
Addressing the media persons here on Thursday, organizing secretary Umesh Kalaghatagi said around 150 technical officials and volunteers will be the part of event. Top paralympic swimmers represented their states or the country in various national and international paralympic games will be taking part in event including Arjun awardees, Ekalavya awardees and Bhima awardees.
Small-scale industries minister Satish Jarkiholi will inaugurate the championship on Saturday 12pm, in the presence of KLE Society chairman Prabhakar Kore and mayor Kiran Saynak. Arrangements of food and accommodation have been made for the participants besides facility of pick-up and drop to the place of accommodation.
Event is supported by KLE Society, Hindalco Industries Ltd (Belagavi), Karnataka Housing Board, Maratha Mandal Institutions, Karnataka Abrasives Ltd, Telsang Travels and Jolle Udyog Samuha. Nitin Khot and family, Vikram Joshi and family, S R Sindia, Gopalrao Kukdolkar and S R Ramanagoudar supported individually.
