Gayle inaugurates third edition of Kerala Cricket League

West Indies all-rounder and the ambassador of Kerala Cricket League  inaugurated the third edition of the tournament at a colourful gala held at The Sevens Stadium in Dubai.

Gayle kick-started the competition in trade-mark style by lofting the ball high much to the delight of the nearly 2,000-strong crowd.

Sixteen teams featuring UAE cricketing talent are taking part in the league tournament managed by Seashell Events UAE and held under the patronage of Dubai Sports Council and Dubai Cricket Council.

The opening ceremony was attended by former Trinidadian cricketer Dinanath Ramnarine; Ghazi Al Madhani, Sport Tourism Manager of Dubai Sports Council, Amin Farooq of the Dubai Cricket Council; Vinod G Pillai, Paul Ninan, Kalam (KCL management) and Team Hit FM.

The opening match was between Trivandrum Titans and Kannur Royals. Batting first Titans were all out for 73 in 19 overs; Royals cantered to victory scoring 74 for the loss of four wickets in only nine overs.

In the second match of the day, Kollam Knightriders recorded a four-wicket win  over Malappuram Sulthans.

Bringing cricket in its exciting Twenty20 format, KCL is featuring 16 teams in four groups - A, B, C and D - each championed by a corporate entity/individual. 

The competing teams stand to win impressive prize money in addition to other privileges offered by sponsors.

The winning team in the final wins a cash prize of Dh75,000 while runner-up takes home Dh45,000 in cash prize.
