Rawalpindi - Local police have formally arrested Umair Makki, who is allegedly involved in murder of one Tehmina Kausar, after the doctors discharged him from District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital yesterday.
Police investigators will produce the murder accused before the court of law today (Thursday) to obtain his physical remand. However, the doctors said the murder accused needs complete bed rest to recover from hip and back bones fractures.
Talking to The Nation, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sajid Mehmood Gondal said that Rawat police have held Umair Makki in connection with murder case of Tehmina Kausar who was allegedly thrown out of window of flat located at the third floor of a plaza.
On the other hand, Medical Superintendent DHQ Hospital Dr Khalid Randhawa said, “Umair’s backbone got also damaged after falling on the ground and the patient needs complete bed rest. If police provide the accused bed rest, it will be best for him as he will recover soon; otherwise, his health conditions may deteriorate further.”
Tehmina Kausar, a resident of Chakwal, died after being thrown out from the window of a flat on November 21 while police also arrested Umair Makki, her boyfriend. A murder case was also registered against Umair on the complaint of Adnan, the brother of the deceased.
Meanwhile, City Police Officer Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi told media persons that three other accused have also been arrested in connection with Tehmina Kausar murder case. He said that police are trying to resolve the mystery as to why Umair had pushed the girl out of the window of the flat.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Narcotics Force carried out 8 operations against drug mafia in different localities of the country and recovered huge quantity of narcotics, informed ANF spokesman yesterday.
The force also took 9 smugglers into custody after registration of cases, he said adding that 3 vehicles were also seized from the possession of smugglers.
The ANF recovered 8-kg heroin, 13.5-kg hashish and 3-kg opium, he said.
