Sir: Disconcerting reports tell of a ‘Disneyland’ to be constructed on the Lahore-Islamabad motorway. Apparently, this theme park will be yet another mega project for the Sharif government. China has promised Rs 32 billion for this project and hopes it will be completed within two years. While having such a place for recreation is a most welcome initiative, it is beyond my comprehension how such a theme park takes precedence above education, load shedding, healthcare and the like. All those sectors are in abysmal condition but nothing flashy or boastful is being done to improve their lot. Why is that? Why is the government refusing to focus on the everyday needs of the people? Why can we not get countries like China and the US to invest in education and healthcare in a big way? Is a Disneyland more of a pressing concern than actual welfare? JAHANZEB SAEEDLahore
