Kartika Pournami was celebrated with religious fervour in various temples, especially Siva temples, in the district on Wednesday.

At Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam in Vemulawada, several thousands of devotees arrived in large numbers to participate in the special pujas and other rituals.

The devotees took a holy dip in dharmagundam (a holy tank) and formed serpentine queues to have the darshan of the presiding deities.

Women lit several lamps as part of the ritual. Prominent among those who visited the temple include, Warangal range IG Naveen Chand, OSD Subbarayudu, Sircilla DSP D. Narsaiah and others.

Similarly, the devotees offered prayers at all the Siva temples in the town. They participated in ‘abhishekhams’ and lighting of lamps in the temples.
