The body of a teenager who had been missing from Zakhira since last week was found in Punjabi Bagh on Wednesday.

The police have registered a case of murder. The deceased has been identified as 16-year-old Mehboob. According to the police, on November 19, Mehboob left home without informing his family, who live in two shanties in a slum in Zakhira. The family had searched for him in vain.

On Wednesday, the family was told that a body was found near Rampura railway line. They identified the body as that of Mehboob.

Police sources further added that prima facie it appeared as if someone had slit Mehboob’s throat.

The body also appeared to have been eaten by stray animals. A senior police officer said that some plastic objects were kept over the body when it was found.— Staff Reporter
