Bears TE Martellus Bennett (ribs) ruled out against Packers

The Chicago Bears ruled tight end Martellus Bennett out of Thursday’s game at the Green Bay Packers because of a ribs injury he suffered in Week 11, the team announced Wednesday.

Running back Matt Forte (knee) and wide receiver Alshon Jeffery (groin) have been listed as questionable.

Forte said on Tuesday he expected to face the Packers after missing the last three games with a sprained MCL.

According to Chicago’s official injury report, Bennett had limited participation in Tuesday’s practice, but a mere 24 hours later he was deemed unfit to play in the team's most important game of the season.

Bennett is tied for fourth in receptions (50) among NFL tight ends.

In other Bears injury news, linebacker Pernell McPhee, safety Antrel Rolle, safety Sherrod Martin and linebacker LaRoy Reynolds are listed as questionable for Thursday's game.

Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said Tuesday that Chris Prosinski is expected to again replace Rolle, who injured his knee prior to last Sunday’s game against the Broncos.

Wide receiver Eddie Royal and running back Ka'Deem Carey are also out.
