To mark the annual observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, the UN headquarters at Geneva (UNOG) will hold a special meeting in the Palais des Nations on Nov. 30, it was announced Wednesday.

Michael Moller, director general of UNOG, will open the meeting with introductory remarks and read out a statement by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

The event provides an opportunity for the international community to focus its attention on the question of Palestine. The special meeting is being organized in observance of an UN General Assembly resolution in December of 1977.

Those to speak at the special meeting include representatives of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People and the Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices Affecting the Human Rights of the Palestinian People and Other Arabs of the Occupied Territories.

Representatives of the League of Arab States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement, the African Union and non-governmental organizations accredited to the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People will also speak at the meeting.
