Vehicle lifters' gang busted, kingpin held

The Jaisalmer police on Wednesday busted an interstate vehicle lifting gang and arrested the kingpin Shaitan Godara, a member of Bisnaram gang and an accused in Bhanwari Devi murder case.

JAISALMER: The Jaisalmer police on Wednesday busted an interstate vehicle lifting gang and arrested the kingpin Shaitan Godara, a member of Bisnaram gang and an accused in Bhanwari Devi murder case. Cases like firing on police and stealing vehicles in Gujarat, and Rajasthan have been registered against him. Godara also believed to be involved in smuggling of weapons for Bisnaram gang from Delhi and other states.
Jaisalmer SP Rajiv Pachar said that to curb the rising vehicle theft in Jaisalmer city, a special team led by Jetharam was looking for the stolen vehicles in areas like Bhinmal, Jhab, Bagoda, Karda, Raniwara, Sanchore of Jalore and Siwana, Sindhari, Balotara, Pachpadra in Barmer. Because of these raids many vehicle thieves went underground leaving stolen vehicles behind. The vehicles were recovered by the police along with four cars stolen from Jaisalmer. Pachar added that there was information about the kingpin of vehicle lifting racket along with his gang members that they were camping in Jaisalmer, which helped, he said.
Pachar said that during interrogation, Godara told that he was wanted in 15-16 cases in Gujarat and had fired at police at Gandhav Bridge in Gujarat in which many cops were injured. Apart from lifting vehicles he was engaged with smuggling liquor, doda post to Gujarat from Rajasthan for which his name is there in the criminal record of Rajasthan police.
Godara also said that on the directions of Bishnaram, he supplied illegal weapons in Jodhpur from Delhi and Gaziabad. According to Pachar till now he has sold over 150 stolen vehicles stolen from Rajasthan and Gujarat.

SP rajiv pachar said that to curb the rising vehicle theft in jaisalmer city, a special team was formed led by jetharam that was searching for the stolen vehicles at jalore district's bhinmal, jhab, bagoda, karda, raniwara, sanchore, barmer district's siwana, sindhari, balotara, pachpadra and raided many places. Due to the raids, many vehicle thieves went underground and they had left the stolen vehicles at abandoned places. The vehicles were recovered by the police of concerned districts in abandoned condition and in this 4 four-wheelers stolen from jaisalmer were also recovered.
He said there was information that head of vehicle lifting gang along with his gang members were camping in jaisalmer and the special team while intensively searching arrested shaitan godara.
SP said godara was intensively interrogated in which he told that he was wanted in 15-16 cases in Gujarat and he had fired in police at gandhav bridge in Gujarat in which many police personnel were injured. Apart lifting vehicles he was also smuggling liquor doda post to Gujarat from Rajasthan due to which he is wanted in many cases lodged in various districts in Rajasthan. godara said that he was member of bishnaram gan, culprit in bhanwari devi murder case and on the directions of bishnaram, hehad supplied illegal weapons in jodhpur division of rajasthan from delhi, gaziabad. godara said in many dists of jodhpur division and in gujrat along with his gang members, he used to lift vehicles and used to sell them.
S P Rajeev pachar said till now he has sold over 150 stolen vehicles stolen from rajasthan and gujarat. Godara was wanted by police of rajasthan and gujarat in many cases including vehicle lifting, liquor smuggling, smuggling of illegal weapons and narcotics. in further interrogation, many other incidents will be revealed.
