What's it about: A seemingly ideal day turns disastrous when California's notorious San Andreas fault triggers a devastating, magnitude 9 earthquake, the largest in recorded history. As the Earth cracks open and buildings start to crumble, Ray Gaines (Dwayne Johnson), an LAFD search-and-rescue helicopter pilot, must navigate the destruction from Los Angeles to San Francisco to bring his estranged wife (Carla Gugino) and their only daughter (Alexandra Daddario) to safety.

Why to watch: San Andreas is a big, goofy, thrill ride that doesn’t even try and BOTHER with having a plot. The actors, the directors, the writers, they all know that the only reason you’re watching the film is to watch everything blow up and crash on screen, and in that respect it delivers 100% of the goods. Things blow up, things fall down, tidal waves crash into San Francisco and the Rock does superhero like stunts that should demolish any other man. I can’t in good conscious recommend this movie as a GOOD movie, but it certainly was a FUN movie. Definitely worth watching if you enjoy carnage, mayhem, world destruction and pretty pictures and sound. The extras are also pretty intriguing. So, go ahead and buy the Blu-ray and be thrilled.
