Online supermarket Bigbasket has entered Coimbatore, making it the second non-metro city in the State and the ninth in the country to have established its presence.
The company, in the next phase plans to expand its presence in 15 non-metro cities by the end of this year.
Meera Iyer, Head (Marketing), Bigbasket, said the company operated an inventory-led model by establishing a central warehouse. “We have a collection centre at Palakode, about 20 km from Dharmapuri, where fresh fruits and vegetables are kept, and another facility at Thondamuthur in Coimbatore,” she added.
With a catalogue of over 14,000 products, including fruits and vegetables, grocery and staples, meat, personal care, home and kitchen products, Bigbasket guarantees on-time delivery, she said, adding that in the next month or so, the online supermarket would launch BB Organics, in addition to the existing BB Royal and BB Premium category of products.
