Sonam Kapoor adds glitter Kashi's illuminating ghats on Dev Deepawali

VARANASI: Familiar with mythological ghats of Kashi due to shooting her hit one `Raanjhanaa’, Bollywood beauty Sonam Kapoor figured once again at Dashaswamedh Ghat, but this time to experience the spirit of Dev Deepawali on Wednesday evening.
Apart from Sonam a big band of celebrities, politicians and also bureaucrats also stayed or roamed the illuminating ghats on this occasion.Engagement of local authorities in arrangement of the auspicious day of Karthik Purnima, which is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs and also Buddhists, compelled the UP PWD minister Shivpal Yadav and chief secretary Alok Ranjan, who also became part of Dev Deepawali celebration at ghats in the evening, to cancel their review meetings scheduled in afternoon.
Sonam, who frequented Varanasi as well as ghats along Ganga during the shooting of Raanjhanaa in 2012, along with her mother and other family members had reached Varanasi on Tuesday evening when she thronged Kashi Vishwanath temple in the evening to offer prayer. Her next public appearance took place with the commencement of Dev Deepawali celebration at Dashaswamedh Ghat on Wednesday evening. She along with her family members reached a giant dais built on pontoons to view the grand Ganga Aarti. The UP ministers Shivpal Yadav, Paras Nath Yadav, Kailash Yadav, and officials also watched Dev Deepawali celebration. Apart from them playback singer Anuradha Paudwal was also among those celebrities who figured at different ghats on this occasion.
It was a hectic day for the officials of district administration as apart from maintain crowd regulation and law and order exercises since wee hours they also had to attend the VIPs. In the protocol of Yadav and Alok Ranjan received here on Tuesday their review meetings with local authorities was scheduled on Wednesday afternoon. Both of them reached as per their schedule by separate choppers. After landing at police lines Yadav along with UP tourism minister Om Prakash Singh left for Manikarnika Ghat to attend death anniversary event of Satua Baba at his ashram while chief secretary stayed at circuit house. However, none of them held the review meetings.
