The late Summer season and early Autumn saw a substantial increase in passenger traffic into Ireland, according to figures from the Central Statistics Office.
There was a 14% increase in the number of trips into Ireland between August and the end of October compared to the same three month period last year.
According to the CSO, just over 2.6 million trips were made into Ireland, an increase of 320,100 on the same period in 2014.
Residents of Great Britain accounted for over a million of the trips, an increase of nearly 12%, on last year, while residents of European countries other than Britain accounted for 920,300 - a 17% increase.
There was a 10.6% increase in trips here by residents of North America while trips to Ireland from other areas were up by over 23%.
Between August and October, Irish residents took a total of just over 2 million trips representing a 4.3% on the same three month period last year.
