CHENNAI: Tipu Sultan birth anniversary will be observed at Gudiyatham in Tamil Nadu by a fringe political party on January 9 or 10, 2016 as the Vellore district police have issued permission for the event after laying down 17 conditions.
Recording the conditional permission on Tuesday, Justice M M Sundresh of the Madras high court allowed Ahmed Basha, deputy general secretary of Thamilaga Makkal Jananayaga Katchi, to hold the birth anniversary event in January.

Guests at the function shall speak only about life and sacrifice of Tipu Sultan, and pamphlets about other religions or castes should not be distributed.
Their speeches should not wound any individual. The government and its policies should not be criticised at the event, the Gudiyatham police inspector’s permission specified.
The judge said in case of any law and order problem, organizers should stop the meeting immediately. The meeting should not have more than 200 people.
The order made it clear that persons should not come in hired vehicles, and electricity board and officials should be approached for due permission for the event.
Prohibiting cultural programmes at the function, the inspector said firecrackers should not be used and no traffic should be obstructed during the event. No procession would be allowed, the order said, adding that banners and flex boards should be erected only with permission from the authorities concerned.

If any untoward incident occurs, the petitioner-party leader would be liable for all losses caused to private and public property, the inspector said in the permission letter.
The outfit had moved the court seeking permission to hold the function on November 20. It challenged the Gudiyatham police’s denial of permission for the function on the ground that similar event had triggered law and order problem in Karnataka.
On Tuesday, Gudiyatham inspector of police informed the court that permission had been granted with 17 conditions.
To this, his counsel A Sirajudeen sought to conduct it on November 27. The judge, however, asked him to finalise it for January 9 or 10.
