Bengaluru police find 'ISIS man' Faiz Masood's city home locked

BENGALURU: The Bengaluru police are keeping a watch on the family of Faiz Masood, one of the two Bengalureans who died fighting for the Islamic State (IS), and are trying to interact with his father Masood Ali, and his young wife.

The family of the 1986-born Faiz is living in D'Costa Layout in Cooke Town. His wife and two children are living with Ali. Police said that Faiz's father has not given any information about his son and their home was found locked on Tuesday .

The Pulakeshinagar police said they have not received any official order to check the house of Faiz but based on media reports, they visited Faiz's house on Monday evening.Family members claimed that they were not aware of Faiz's whereabouts. Ali told police that his son had left on a business trip to Qatar in September 2013 and stopped interacting with the family ever since.

Interestingly , the family had not registered any missing complaint with the police or sought the help of the Ministry of External Affairs to track Faiz down. Mohammed Umar Subhan, resident of Shivajinagar, too was alleged to be part of the IS and was killed in Syria. According police sources, Umar had applied for a passport in July 2008 and the same year he travelled to Yemen and later joined the IS. His father Mohammed Abdul Subhan was an architect and had a shop in Shivajinagar. The shop, however, is locked for the past three years and Subhan has not been seen for some time now.

Meanwhile, the Intelligence Bureau in its report had said early this year that both the young men had joined a terror group a couple of years ago.

Additional DGP (Law and Order) Alok Mohan said the police have not received any communication from the National Investigative Agency about the case.
