Peter charged with forgery, cheating in Sheena Bora case
Former media tycoon Peter Mukerjea, who was arrested on Friday and produced before the CBI in New Delhi on Tuesday for his alleged role in the murder of his stepdaughter Sheena Bora, has also been charged with forgery and cheating, a source within the agency said. Investigations by the special crimes division of the CBI revealed that Peter not only helped his wife Indrani commit the murder, but also helped her sell Sheena’s property.

“It appeared that Peter helped Indrani forge some documents for the purpose of disposing of the Delhi property which was lawfully owned by Sheena,” a source said on condition of anonymity. Investigations revealed that the financial transactions in question took place at several locations including the UK.

“The team came to the conclusion that Peter was actively involved in helping Indrani with the forgery,” the source added.

Peter is undergoing questioning on the couple’s financial transactions conducted between 2010 and 2011 during the formation of their joint media venture INX Media. The CBI has added new sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly) and 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) of the IPC in its remand application filed before the designated additional metropolitan magistrate court.

Investigators have also started interrogating Peter for details regarding the alleged attempted murder of Sheena’s brother Mikhail Bora during his visit to the city, as well as his involvement in the conspiracy to worsen Sheena’s mental state.

“We’ve got some leads on the financial dealings he had carried out in the said period. As of now it has been found that he is part of the larger conspiracy and had to know of what was happening and that he conspired with the accused (Indrani)” said a CBI spokesperson.

CBI officials said that once the custodial interrogation is over, a chargesheet will be filed detailing Peter’s involvement in the case. Sources also claimed that CBI might conduct a lie detector test after seeking permission from the local court, which would be conducted at the CFSL in Delhi.
