Chef Andrew Zimmern, best known to most of you as the host of Travel Channel’s “Bizarre Foods With Andrew Zimmern,” was in town the other night to receive the Thomas M. Menino Award for Leadership from Lovin’ Spoonfuls, the Brookline-based nonprofit that distributes fresh, healthy food to community organizations serving the hungry. The 54-year-old Zimmern, who was homeless before going to rehab and then becoming a celebrated chef of Café Un Deux Trois in Minneapolis, is one of Lovin’ Spoonfuls’s founding culinary board members.
