The Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) launched its first-ever branch in Nepal at an event to celebrate its 64th foundation day last week. For the first time, BSS hoisted its flag in Nepal. The foundation day was jointly organized by Meche Samaj Sibiary Afath (MSSA), Nepal, and BSS at Meche Nagar in Jhapa district.
The ad-hoc committee of Nepal Meche (Bodo) Sahitya Sabha, comprising eight members, will be headed by Kamal Meche.

"We have more responsibility now to take forward their mission of developing the Bodo language. In BSS's annual convention at Kajalgaon next year, a full-fledged team from Nepal BSS will take part," Mooshahary told TOI.
Earlier, MSSA president Rupesh Meche sought help from BSS and others. We need help and co-operation in every aspect from the Bodo people of India for all round development of the Meches of Nepal. Therefore, formation of BSS centre becomes most essential part for the Meches for the survival of our Language and Literature, said Rupesh Meche.
He also requested the BSS to apprise Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Hagrama Mohilary to help Meche Samaj Sibiary Afad as well as the Meches of Nepal with financial assistance as per his commitment made earlier.
The BSS president Kameswar Brahma said, We are ready to work together. We have to honour the flag of BSS as this is the symbol of great Bodo Nation. The flag of BSS should be flying high in the heart of Nepal till the Meches (Bodos) remain in Nepal, said Brahma.
