Sunil used service of cops to promote business: DGP T P Senkumar

Kochi: State Police Chief T.P. Senkumar on Tuesday submitted before Kerala High Court that Sunil Jacob, a former superintendent of police, who is running a private investigation agency , used to frequently visit police stations and take information claiming to be rendering assistance for investigation of cases.

Sunil Jacob had utilised the service of some civil police officers for promotion of his business, an affidavit said.

“The alleged association of serving police officers with the private investigation agency of Mr. Sunil Jacob would definitely affect the credibility of the police and “certain information of secret nature” handled by the police may even reach into the hands of the employees of the petitioner and would have great impact on the pending investigation of the cases." the affidavit said.

At any rate, no such parallel set up for investigation would be allowed to function. Therefore, the activities of the petitioner’s Spy Investigation Agency “is to be viewed very seriously, the affidavit said.

According to the DGP the service of three serving civil police officers had been used clandestinely by Jacob to settle cases registered against certain goondas at the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ernakulam.

The statement was on a plea filed Jacob seeking to restrain the IG, Ernakulum Range from taking legal action against him and from conducting surveillance or raids at his house or office.
