Trial run begins for Godavari water project at Ghanpur

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) on Tuesday conducted a trial run for the Godavari water project at Ghanpur near Shamirpet mandal in Ranga Reddy district, about 30 km away from the city.
Water had reached the Ghanpur reservoir on Tuesday. Here, the Water Board has constructed a 2.7 MLD capacity of mini reservoir due to the delay in construction of the proposed 150 MLD master balancing reservoir' (MBR).
Telangana IT minister K T Rama Rao attended the trial run and also commissioning of Godavari water at Ghanpur reservoir located in Shamirpet mandal on Tuesday . The GHMC commissioner and also in-charge managing director, B Janardhan Reddy also accompanied the minister during trail run.
The treated water reach the Ghanpur reservoir, it would then be supplied to Lingampally reservoir through ring main-I and simultaneously to Sainikpuri reservoir through ring main-II. Initially, ring main-1 is being commissioned to transmit 85 million gallons of water per day (mgd) to Lingampally reservoir and followed by ring main-II to Sainikpuri by November.
