Anti-Corruption Bureau officials on Tuesday arrested Mahabubnagar Roads and Buildings Superintendent Engineer Boda Chandulal on charge of amassing wealth illegally.

Searches at his house in the city, office in Mahabubnagar and other places of Warangal and Karimnagar revealed that he acquired assets worth nearly Rs. 2.6 crore which were disproportionate to his known sources of income. Among his properties were a two-floor house in Warangal, flat in a posh locality near Masab Tank in city and two four-floor commercial complexes — one each in Warangal and Chunchupalli of Kothagudem in Khammam.

His assets included five plots in Hanamkonda and 7.5 acres of agricultural land in Chunchupalli of Khammam, gold ornaments weighing 410 grams. An amount of Rs. 3.8 lakh, two cars – Creta and Duster — and two two-wheelers were also found in his house. Market value of the properties was estimated to be around Rs. 9 crore.

Mr. Chandulal’s house in Warangal was yet to be searched. Two bank lockers in Warangal are also to be opened, the ACB officials said.
