Following the announcement, Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar had inspected a few places in Pudukottai, accompanied by health and district officials, to select a place for locating the college. It is said that the land at cattle farm had been chosen for locating the college.

Ms. Devi told The Hindu that she had been bestowed with an important task of preparing and finalising the plan for new medical college. She would expedite the work by involving all stakeholders. It was stated that land had been identified for the college. She would visit the government hospital in Pudukottai to study the available infrastructure. It might be attached to the medical college in the beginning.

She said the government had planned to start the college with 150 seats. Infrastructure such as buildings, classrooms, hostels, and administrative buildings had to be created. She would soon come out with the details on plan for buildings, appointment of doctors and so on.
