Boiler explosion kills labourer

A labourer was killed in a boiler explosion at a pharmaceutical unit here on Tuesday. The victim was identified as Dulipudi Bhavanarayana, 56, a resident of P. Mallavaram village of Tallarevu mandal.

According to police, the incident took place around 11 a.m. on the premises of Venky Parenterals, manufacturers of vaccines and injections, when Bhavanarayana was on duty near the boiler. Bhavanarayana sustained severe injuries, while his co-worker Chelli Hari Prasad escaped with minor injuries. Though both the victims were rushed to the area hospital, doctors declared Bhavanarayana as brought dead. The condition of Hari Prasad is said to be stable.

Yanam Administrative Officer D. Balaram and Superintendent of Police Datla Vamsidhar Reddy inspected the industrial unit. A case was registered and investigation was on.
