Two Maoitss, including a woman, who were active on Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border and carried a reward of Rs 5 lakh on their head, were arrested from insurgency-hit Rajanandgaon district of the state, police said on Tuesday.

The cadres, Manisha alias Jani Kovachi (29) and Manglu Sori (21), were nabbed by a joint team of security forces from the forests of Bortalav police station limits on Monday evening, Inspector General of Police, Durg Range, Pradeep Gupta said.

Acting on tip-off about frequent movement of cadres active in Darrekasa area committee (Maharashtra) adjoining Bortalav and Dongargarh area of Chhattisgarh, an operation was launched by district force and Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the I-G said.

While security personnel were cordoning off forests between Ghotiya and Udarichhapar villages, they spotted the two suspects who were trying to escape from the spot, the IG said, adding they were, however, rounded up after a short chase.
