Oasis, Stone Roses and David Bowie are among the early favorites for the 2016 Mercury Prize, according to U.K. bookmaker William Hill. Hill gives Oasis 20/1 odds, Stone Roses 12/1 odds, and Bowie 12/1 odds to win the coveted prize.
Neither the Stone Roses nor Oasis have announced an album for 2016.
At the top of the list - in a six way tie with 10/1 odds - are Villagers, Bloc Party, Metronomy, the xx, the Last Shadow Puppets and Savages.
Other acts on the shortlist are Turin Brakes, Daughter, Gorillaz, Suede, Field Music, Mystery Jets, Money and Foxes.
The Mercury Prize, which calls itself "the music equivalent to the Booker Prize for literature and the Turner Prize for art," comes with a cash prize of about $30,500. The judging panel includes musicians, music journalists, music presenters, music producers, composers and festival organizers.
The Prize has no categories and is open to all genres of music.
