Make GIM meaningful event: Siddaramaiah

Siddaramaiah on Tuesday directed the state industries department to focus on attracting investment

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday directed the state industries department to focus on attracting investment rather than merely signing memorandums of understanding with various companies.

According to a note released by the Chief Minister’s office after a High Level committee meeting on Invest Karnataka -2015 here, Mr Siddaramaiah said, “Global Investors Meets are organised but they somehow lack focus on attracting investments. Instead these events become merely MoU signing ceremonies between the state and various companies. I do not wish to have such an event, instead I want it to be the most successful event of this dispensation.”

He said the industries department must be well prepared to address the problems of investors by allying their fears on allocation of adequate energy, land and water. “Before signing any MoU bear this in mind that no industrialist should be disappointed later after he or she signs an MoU with us. Investors should feel at home during this event,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that the department must strive to attract investments cutting across all regions.

From February 3

Industries minister, R.V. Deshpande said that the three-day GIM will be held in city from February 3. He said, “We have identified 12 sectors to attract investments. We have planned it in such a manner that investment flows from all directions and reaches every corner of the state.”
