Son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad and Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejaswi Yadav on Tuesday reacted to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s statement saying that it was Lalu Prasad Yadav who had hugged him during the swearing-in ceremony of Bihar Ministers on November 20 in Patna.
Tejaswi Yadav said: “Hugging guests and embracing them is the culture of Bihar”.
During the swearing-in ceremony, Mr. Prasad had hugged Mr. Kejriwal and raised his hands along with Mr. Kejriwal in front of the gathering. Mr. Prasad had also hugged Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on the dais.
Later, Mr. Kejriwal said in Delhi that Mr. Prasad had pulled and hugged him while taking his hand together and raising it. “But that doesn’t mean we’ve made an alliance with Lalu Prasad or his party,” said Mr. Kejriwal.
Mr. Tejaswi Yadav came out in support of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan over his “rise of intolerance” remark.
“Aamir Khan is right that intolerance has increased in the country. Several artists, writers and others have announced the return of their national awards in protest,” Mr. Yadav told media persons, adding that even before Mr. Khan, several other celebrities had stated that intolerance had increased in the country.
“And many people will say the same thing on intolerance in the coming days as well… We’ll fight against increasing intolerance in the country”, declared Mr. Yadav. He also appealed to the Central government to take appropriate steps on the issue.
“The Central government must now wake up before it is too late to check and control intolerance across the country,” he said.
