LUCKNOW: Unwell and coping with the loss of his partner, Bankit, the lone seven-year-old Zebra at Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Gardens showed signs of slight improvement in his health on Tuesday. After a gap of many hours, Bankit was spotted taking his feed and water.
A team from Indian Veterinary Research institute(IVRI), Bareilly, headed by senior vet AM Pawde visited the zoo to monitor and examine the activities of Bankit.
Convinced with the line of treatment being given by the Lucknow zoo veterinary staff, the IVRI team is of the view that the animal has no serious health issue and the abnormal behavioural change showing symptoms of anxiety and restless is all psychological.
“Bankit will take time to recover as the emotional setback of losing a partner has had a deep impact on him,” said Anupam Gupta, director Lucknow zoo.
“He is being given required antibiotics and supportive injections,” he added.
