Tension prevailed near platform number 1 of Bhopal railway station after two groups clashed over tearing of a poster Asaduddin Owaisi, president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen late on Monday.

BHOPAL: Tension prevailed near platform number 1 of Bhopal railway station after two groups clashed over tearing of a poster Asaduddin Owaisi, president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen late on Monday. Two shops and some vehicles were damaged in the clash. A heavy police force was rushed in from adjoinig four police stations to bring the situation under control.

Bajaria police registered counter cases under sections of rioting among others against two groups.
It all started when a person, who runs a tea stall, tore a poster of Owaisi at Sikandri Sarai outside the railway station. It irked the leader’s supporters who damaged the tea stall and beat up the owner.
Situation soon turned violent as a member of right wing organisation and his supporters turned up. Both sides traded blows and clashed on the road till police force rushed in.
Police said on a complaint of Aqueela Bi, a resident of Sikandri Sarai, a case has been registered against Naresh Saini alias Bhola, Dharmendra, Matru and others while counter cases have been registered against Shanu, Naveed, Shahzad and Aslam on the complaint of Naresh Saini alias Bhola, a resident of Shankaracharya Nagar.
Cops meanwhile, have stepped up vigil in city in view of Tablighi Ijtema that would begin from November 28. Vehicle checking drives were being carried out in city to avoid any untoward incident during the congregation, officials said.
