That got us thinking about other young performers who might be eligible to take over the 69-year-old actor’s most iconic roles. Yahoo Movies recently asked Sly about it, and you can see his creative casting choices in the video above. Up first: John Rambo, Stallone’s troubled Vietnam vet and Special Forces killing machine from the Rambo series. Stallone was quick with his answer: Ryan Gosling. “Kind of an odd choice, right?” he says.

From there, Stallone offered up Jake Gyllenhaal to take on the role of his gritty supercop from 1986′s Cobra. Why? Because, “you need a real mental case” for that movie. “He’s got a dark side, he can go there.”
