November 24, 2015 05:00 pm | Updated 05:00 pm IST - NELLORE:

Five persons, four of them mechanics, died due to serious injuries they suffered when a speeding truck hit a standing lorry and autorickshaw near the new bridge on the Penna river here on Tuesday.

The mishap took place when the slab stones-laden truck proceeding from Kavali to Gudur was parked on the highway to carryout repair of punctured tyre. Four mechanics, brought from Nellore city, set out to undertake repair works.

As they were going about the repair works, a Chennai-bound lorry hit their vehicles from behind. Two of the mechanics were trapped under the lorry while three others standing nearby suffered serious injuries.
