    Bengaluru to Host Women Technologists Conference

    BENGALURU: A record 2,200 women involved in the technology sector will come together to attend the 6th Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing India (GHCI) conference in India’s Silicon Valley Bengaluru next month.
    This is set to be India’s largest gathering of women technologists, according to California-based nonprofit Anita Borg Institute which has been organizing the event since 2010. The conference has seen a 38% increase in participation from last year’s edition.

    Intel’s chief information officer Kimberly S Stevenson and Omidyar Network India’s managing director Roopa Kudva are the keynote speakers.

    “We are at a historic tipping point, as women we are uniquely positioned to drive change and lead the way for a new paradigm in technology. This is a remarkable time for us to band together and shape the future of innovation for girls and women around the globe,” Stevension said.

    The other highlights of GHCI include sessions on latest technology with a focus on Made in India, emerging technologies, systems engineering (software and hardware), data science and machine learning. The conference will also offer Back to Work (BTW) sessions and access to the Career Fair for women who want to make a comeback to their corporate career after a break.

    The conference is scheduled to be held from December 2-4. While day one will be held at the White Orchard Convention Centre (next to Manyata Embassy Business Park), days two and three will be held at Vivanta by Taj in Yeshwanthpur.
